Terry Schroeder
Terry Schroeder was born in Santa Barbara, CA and attended San Marcos High School. To date one of his biggest moment in the sport, Schroeder said, was being named All-American for San Marcos High School in Santa Barbara, CA. After graduation, he attended Pepperdine University where he earned All-American honors playing water polo in 1977, 1978 and 1980. Schroeder is considered one of water polo's all-time standout players.
Terry was the captain of the National Team from 1983-1992 and brought home 2 silver metals from the 1984 and 1988 Olympics and finished his playing career with a forth place finish in the 1992 Olympics. He carried the torch in the 1984 Olympics and became the model for the statue at the entrance of the Los Angeles Coliseum commemorating the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics.
In 1981, Terry graduated from Pepperdine and completed his Chiropractic studies at Palmer-West Chiropractic in Sunnyvale, Ca. He and his wife Lori opened their practice in Westlake, CA where they reside and still work today. Terry's love of water polo led him to become the head coach at Pepperdine University for over 20 years. His coaching career created a record of 307 wins -195 losses (.612) and they attended the NCAA Championships eight times finally claiming the NCAA Championship in 1997.
Dr. Schroeder loves the sport and it shows in his coaching, mentoring, his book, his business and his play. Yes, when Terry gets in the water to scrimmage, he still commands a lot of respect and ability. Terry has tools to be Head Coach and the ability to push the players to do their best. Terry's dream is to be Head Coach in the Olympic Games. Terry was named Head Coach of Men's Team on June 18th, 2007. Bringing home an Olympic gold medal would be "the fulfillment of a lifelong dream," said Terry. "I have followed water polo since I was in elementary school." Terry is married to Dr. Lori Schroeder; between them they have a very successful Chiropractic business in Westlake Village with 2 beautiful (Leanna and Sheridan) and active daughters.
